Paschalis Paschidis is Research Director in the Institute of Historical Research at National Helenic Research Foundation

PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITY

• 1995-2000: Temporary research assistant at the Institute for Greek and Roman Antiquity of the National Hellenic Research Foundation (KERA/NHRF).

• 2000-2006: Functional research scientist (D and then C grade) at KERA/NHRF. 2006 onwards: Researcher (Associate Researcher, Senior Researcher [2009-2018], Director of Research [since 2018]) at KERA (later merged into IHR)/NHRF.

RESEARCH INTERESTS

• Greek epigraphy (especially in Macedonia)  Hellenistic history

• Hellenistic and Roman institutions and politics

• Ancient ethnic, cultural, religious and political identities.

RESEARCHAND OTHER ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES

• In the context of the “Primary sources, history and culture of northern Greece” Programme of the Institute of Historical Research, I am mostly involved in the collection, archiving, elaboration, interpretation and the (print or digital) publication of epigraphic evidence from Macedonia. I am responsible for the Archive of Inscriptions from Macedonia (bibliographical documentation, photographic archive, squeeze archive, administrative documentation, etc.)

• I have collaborated extensively in the redaction of proposals for projects with external funding, as well as in their managerial, technical, and scientific supervision (among others: Pandektis, «InCoMac. Inscriptions and coins: new documents from ancient Macedonia», 2012-2015, «Kyrtou plegmata», 2013-2015).

• Visiting Professor at the International Hellenic University, School of Humanities, in the MA Programme «Classical Archaeology and the Ancient History of Macedonia» (2015onwards), and jury member for PhD theses in Universities in Greece and abroad.

• Member of the Editorial Board of the journal Tekmeria (2012-2015, 2021 onwards). 

• Collaborator of the Copenhagen Associations Project (2012-2015).

• Member of the editorial team of the Bulletin épigraphique (2018 onwards).

• Member of the editorial team of the Supplementum Epigraphicum Graecum (2019 onwards)

Major ongoing projects:

• Publication of the Greek and Latin inscriptions of the Second Macedonian Meris.  Communal identities in Roman Macedonia.
