Dimitris Plantzos holds a first degree in history and archaeology (Athens), and a M.Phil and a D.Phil in classical archaeology (both at Lincoln College, Oxford). After a three-year British Academy post-doctoral fellowship at Oxford, he returned to Athens where he worked as curator at the Ilias Lalaounis Jewerly Museum and the Museum of Cycladic Art. Before joining the Department of History and Archaeology in Athens, he taught classical archaeology at the University of Peloponnese (Kalamata) and the University of Ioannina. He is a member of the Society of Antiquaries of London, as well as a member of the advisory board of the Journal of Greek Media and Culture, the Journal of Modern Greek Studies, the Annuario - Scuola Archeologica Italiana di Atene, and Ex Novo.
