The Graduate Studies Program "Archaeology and History of the Ancient World: from the Early Prehistory to Late Antiquity" was founded with the act 676/24-04-2018 (published in the Government Gazette 1729/Β/17-05-2018) and operates through its official Regulation (published in the Government Gazette 3491/Β/25-05-2023)
The Program aims to provide specialist insights and research training into various aspects of Greek ancient history and archaeology. Participants to the Program will be trained in the critical reception and the production of academic work which may lead them to further pursue doctoral degrees or careers in academic research, in education or as archaeologists employed by the Hellenic Ministry of Culture, private parties or as freelancers.
The Program offers the following specialization fields:
a. Prehistoric Archaeology
b. Classical Archaeology
c. Ancient History
The major educational goal of the program is the acquisition of specialized knowledge and the pertinent methodological-research tools necessary for the development of synthetic, critical thinking in the respective fields. The seminar format of the courses leads to full involvement in the research process, the formulation of research questions and the conduct of research, which will lead to the production of comprehensive research proposals and publications. Familiarity with active participation to conferences and the presentations within the confines of these or other academic meetings is particularly encouraged.
