ENTRY TO THE PROGRAM: REQUIREMENTS AND PROCEDURES

Holders of Degrees from the Departments of History and Archaeology from Greek universities or equivalent departments, faculties, schools and institutions in Greece or abroad (as recognized by the Hellenic National Academic Recognition and Information Center (Hellenic NARIC; Greek acronym ΔΟΑΤΑΠ) are entitled to apply for entry to the Program.

Each May, by decree of the Department of History and Archaeology of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, a proclamation is issued related to the invitation of interested students to apply for the Program. Pertinent applications along with all necessary accompanying documents (see below) must be submitted to the Secretary of the Program as specified to each proclamation, which also announces the deadline for applications and further details.

Entry is assessed through written examinations, often taking place in late September or early October. The evaluation and the final selection of those eligible to be enrolled to the Program is based on the result of the written examinations (50%) and on personal interview by members of the Admission Committee (50%) for those who are successful in the written examinations.

The necessary supporting documents that consitute the application are:

- Application form

- Curriculum vitae

- Photocopy of both sides of an identification document (ID card, valid passport or equivalent)

- Copy of Degree or certificate of the completion of studies if award of the degree is pending

- Transcript of Records/ Transcript Certification (detailed documentation of undergraduate course grades)

- Certificate of knowledge in the English language (minimum level required: B2)

- Seminar papers, if any, especially those related to the subject of specialization.

- Certificates of participation in excavations, seminars, conferences, etc. if any.

- Scientific publications, if any.

- Evidence of participation in research projects or other professional activity, if any.

- Certificate of proficiency in the modern Greek or other attestation as to the sufficient knowledge of modern Greek language. This is required for foreign applicants.

- Certificate of the official recognition of academic title(s) or degrees issued by foreign institutions.
